The first weekend of the second split went fairly well , the flights seemed to be a little late with the majority of the action comming after 8:30 in the morning. But the hunts ended with a nice mixed bag of puddlers and Divers.
Even on a bright sunny day the birds will work to a large decoy spread with a little wind to keep them moving. The last front seemed to move in a lot of new birds. The hunting looks to be favorable going into the Thanksgiving week.
A short hunt this morning with
Just my dog and I , so I got a little picky and decided to shoot only the Gadwall's'. we had several groups of Teal and Shovelers as well as Motts and Ringnecks decoy throughout the morning. There is definitely something to be said for the simple mornings with only you and a dog. No large straps of ducks , but what a way to start your day. The number of birds seems to be improving with each front and we have another comming this week that will bring in fresh birds. |
