Fridays Group were met with blustery conditions and tough shooting conditions, but they made it count.
The Carmichael boys from today with a heavy strap. These two boys had a great time with their grandfather this morning in Brazoria County. The flight today was predominantly Mallards. Pintails, Motts and Gadwalls. With the front coming tomorrow we are bound to see a push of fresh birds. We still have room for one more group for this weekend. Even on a bright sunny day the birds will work to a large decoy spread with a little wind to keep them moving. The last front seemed to move in a lot of new birds. The hunting looks to be favorable going into the Thanksgiving week.
Warm,Calm still conditions this morning made it a little tough, but we pulled it off with a fairly solid finish, gadwals , Widgion , Green wings and as you can see the Hollywoods didnt mind the sunshine ! . the numbers of birds going into the Thanks Giving week are definatly encouraging.

Just my dog and I , so I got a little picky and decided to shoot only the Gadwall's'. we had several groups of Teal and Shovelers as well as Motts and Ringnecks decoy throughout the morning. There is definitely something to be said for the simple mornings with only you and a dog. No large straps of ducks , but what a way to start your day. The number of birds seems to be improving with each front and we have another comming this week that will bring in fresh birds. |
